Functional Medicine
Functional Medicine is a holistic, integrative, and science based approach to healthcare which treats illness and disease, while promoting wellness and vitality, by focusing on the unique needs of each patient. After proper evaluation an individually tailored plan is then created to restore the physiological, biochemical, psychological, neuro-energetic, and structural balance.
Our Functional Medicine approach is guided by four core principles:
- We recognize the biochemical individuality that we all possess, acknowledging that each person is unique with their own history, strengths, challenges, heredity, and epigenetic influences.
- Due to the biochemical individuality and the interconnectedness of organ function, treatment must be holistic in nature and not simply symptom or disease based.
- Rather than a disease-centered approach, we take a patient-centered approach which allows us to create a therapeutic partnership with our patients. Our intention is that by empowering our patients to take ownership of their own healing that they become active participants in the development of their therapeutic plan and feel more in control of their own well-being and are more likely to make sustainable lifestyle changes to improve their health.
- Health is not merely the absence of disease, but rather the enhancement of proper physiological function and vitality. Because health is a continuum, one that is challenged daily by environmental, emotional, chemical, physical, and energetic stressors, its achievement must be an ongoing practice and way of life.
Our ultimate goal is to help sick patients get well and allow all individuals to stay on the path towards achieving and maintaining optimal health and vitality.
